Eric Church’s Brother, Brandon Church, Dies at 36

Country star Eric Church's brother, Brandon Church, has passed away at just 36 years old. In a statement to Us Weekly, a rep for Eric explained that the family has set up a memorial fund where donations can be made in lieu of flowers. Read the full statement below.

"It is with great sadness that the Church family confirms that Eric’s brother, Brandon, passed away Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, please leave a message for the family and/or make a donation to a Scholarship Memorial Fund created in Brandon’s memory."

Us also reports that the Brandon E. Church Memorial Scholarship Fund has raised over $25,000 so far.

Brandon's memorial fund's official website further explains:

"This loving memorial is set up to honor Brandon E. Church, beloved son, brother, father and friend. In lieu of flowers, please pay forward a gift that will keep on giving to others through furthering their education. The Brandon E. Church Memorial Scholarship Fund will be used to bless others and honor a benevolent life. Thank you for showing your love and support to the Church family."

The official cause of Brandon's death is not yet known, however, according to The Tennessean, the Granite Falls Police Department in North Carolina, says that the songwriter was at home just before he died with the police chief explaining that he passed away while being transported to the hospital. And according to TMZ, Brandon's father Kenneth said that his son suffered a seizure while at home, and another while on the way to the hospital, with the second reportedly sending him into cardiac arrest.

Brandon was a songwriter and co-wrote a few songs with his brother, like "How 'Bout You" off Eric's Sinners Like Me album in 2006 and "Without You Here from 2009's Carolina.

Eric has yet to publicly comment on his brother's death.
