Deadly Crash Over Sutter County Kills Pilots Of Two Agriculture Planes

Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board investigators are looking into the deadly midair collision of two small planes over Sutter County.

FAA officials reportedly said the collision between the two single-engine Grumman G-164 Ag Cat planes happened Late Wednesday morning close to Striplin Road in the Pleasant Grove area. That is about 20 miles north of Sacramento on Highway 99.

Neither of the pilots survived. They have been identified as Brian Julian VanDyke and Burton Alan Haughey. They were the only people aboard each plane.

It was also not clear what caused the crash of the planes which are commonly used to spray pesticide on farm crops.
