Gas prices are as much as $5 a gallon in New York, and are climbing all over the country, due to record traffic expected for Memorial Day Weekend.
In the Sacramento area, prices as of today (Thursday 5/24) were averaging $3.61, but could climb higher.
Bargains can be found if you do your homework by downloading the AAA, GasBuddy or Gas Guru apps, or you could search on the Gasbuddy website for deals around Sacramento.
AAA Northeast spokesman Robert Sinclair says expect gas to be more expensive at gas stations alongside the highway, or nearby. The same gas can have a 25 cent price difference at gas stations as close as a quarter mile away, says Sinclair.
