TMSG: Family Adopts Oldest Cat In Shelter For 101-Year-Old Woman

A senior citizen and an elderly rescue cat are now both a lucky duo.

The Humane Society of Catawba County in North Carolina shared on their Facebook page the adorable story. A 19-year-old cat named Gus Gus had just arrived at their shelter. Gus Gus previous owner had to give up the elderly cat because of unforeseen work commitments that made it difficult to care for the animal.

That's when a 101-year-old woman's family contacted the shelter interested in the newly adoptable cat. The family wanted to adopt the senior cat for their 101-year-old mother who had just lost her cat. The HSCC executive director told Newsweek, "We were cautious because of the age of all parties, but the family said they were willing to care for the cat on behalf of their mother."

Since moving in with the elderly woman, Gus Gus has "made himself at home and is eating like a horse."
