Santa Barbara firefighters were in for surprise when they launched a cliff-side rescue mission earlier this month.

On October 4, crews were dispatched to Hope Ranch Beach after receiving reports of a person dangling on a cliff about 30 feet down, according to NBC4.

People passing by were shocked by what looked like a person holding onto the side of the cliff and called for help.

After crews arrived with UTV's, fire engines, a truck, and a drone, firefighters soon discovered the person they were there to save was a mannequin hanging off the side of the cliff.

According to the department's Public Information Officer Daniel Bertucelli, the mannequin was left there from a movie shoot just days earlier.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department wasn't upset though, saying it's better to call than not.

Bertucelli also shared photos of what the mannequin looked like to people on the beach.
