Randy Travis Shares First Single Since His 2013 Stroke 'Fool's Love Affair'

Beloved country icon, Randy Travis has returned with new music for the first time since a near-fatal stroke damaged his voice in July 2013.

The Country Music Hall of Fame inductee released "Fool's Love Affair" on Wednesday (July 29). The release also falls on the 25th Anniversary of the release of Travis' first single, "On The Other Hand," which marked a new era for country music and shaped the genre in the years to come.

The song was written by Grammy-nominated songwriter Milton J. Brown, producer-songwriter Keith Stegall and Nashville icon, Charlie Monk. It finds Travis singing of the temptations and repercussions of cheating, ultimately acknowledging the foolishness of it all.

"It’s just a fool’s love affair / And we’re both aware / It’s a game and nobody wins / We can’t reveal the love that we feel so we’ll just keep it this way ʼtil it ends," Travis sings in the chorus of the track.

"Fool's Love Affair" is just one of many unfinished projects the country singer has been working on since his life-changing stroke. Earlier this year he released a gospel album and DVD from a 2003 live recording and last year he shared his life memoir with fans, Forever and Ever, Amen.
