Jason Aldean brought his latest single, "Got What I Got" to an episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers this week. The country star delivered his virtual performance alongside three of his band members who were seated in stools as palm trees swayed in the background.
"Got What I Got," written by Thomas Archer, Alexander Palmer and Michael Tyler, finds Aldean singing about being so content in a relationship that you don't miss the single life. "When I got what I got, I don't miss what I had / The old me before you belongs to the past," Aldean sings in the chorus. "In the back of your mind, you might think there's somethin' more I want / But when I got what I got, girl, I don't."
"When I first heard 'Got What I Got' it reminded me of something Boyz II Men would do...almost like a 90's R&B throwback song," Aldean previously said. "It's just not something you really hear in country music that much… plus, now more than ever, I think we're all just being reminded how to appreciate the people we love."
Aldean recently shared the music video for "Got What I Got" which gives fans a look at his life at home. The clip, which was filmed in Destin, Florida during the coronavirus quarantine, showcases Aldean's real-life love story with his wife Brittany and his children.
Directed by Shaun Silva, the video shows the couple enjoying date nights, walking around the beach and more. In addition to footage of the couple, home videos of their children, Memphis and Navy, along with Aldean's kids from a previous marriage Kendyl and Keeley is included. See the adorable video here.
"Got What I Got" is the second single from Aldean's ninth studio album, 9. This time of year, the country star would usually be out on the road playing live music for fans. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic he along with many other artists have been forced to postpone all live shows.
