Thomas Rhett Reveals Inspiration Behind Daughter Lennon Love's Name

Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, welcomed their third daughter, Lennon Love, in February 2020. In a recent interview with his record label, the country singer shared what inspired the baby's adorable name.

When it came time to choose a name for their third daughter, Rhett ultimately got to make the choice since Lauren took the lead when naming their two older daughters, Willa Gray and Ada James. For the first name, Rhett knew he wanted it to have some sort of connection to music.

He says, "Lennon came from John Lennon, from the Beatles. I knew I wanted some sort of musical name for our third child, and me and Lauren both loved the name Lennon."

As for his daughter's middle name, Love, it was actually chosen last minute. Initially, the couple was going to go with Louise, however due to the baby's February 10 birthday, they went another direction.

"In the hospital one of her friends texted her," he recalled. "She was like, 'Hey, since it's Valentine’s Day, maybe you should name her Lennon Love.' And it kind of started as a joke but kinda became cemented. That’s what we kind of decided in the hospital."

Over the last few months, Rhett has been quarantining with Akins and their three daughters. While he misses playing concerts, Rhett does admit he's been thankful for more time with his girls.

"To me, it’s been kind of a blessing in disguise to be able to hang out with them and get to learn them a little bit better," he explained, "because on the contrary I would be on the road, but now I get to be at home and wake up with ‘em, go to sleep with ‘em and just finding new ways to have fun with ‘em."
